We have babies, babies, and more babies!!

Belle kidded with triplets on April 10, 2008 at 8:30 AM.  She gave us plenty of notice by pacing, pawing and talking for at least an hour before she actually delivered.  She had a bit of a rough time delivering the first baby because it wasn't in the normal birthing position, but she managed OK without our assistance.  The first baby born was a buck, followed about ten minutes later by a doe, and about ten minutes after that by another doe.  As a third freshener Belle's udder is unbeatable!  Mom and kids are doing great!

Lucy, on the other hand, didn't give us any notice.  She woke us up with her screaming on April 11, 2008 at 4:00 AM  (we have a baby monitor in the barn so we can hear what's going on during the night).  We raced outside in the pouring rain, just in time to see the miracle of her delivering two pure white bucks about ten minutes apart.  We had to use a permanent marker to mark the hoof of the first kid so we could tell them apart because they are identical, other than the first one having floppier ears than the other.  Now that his ears have straightened up, it's really hard to tell who's who! As a second freshener, Lucy's udder is outstanding!  Mom and babies are doing great!

Emma kidded on April 14, 2008 at 12:45 AM with twins, one buck and one doe.  She gave us some warning with some quiet moaning and pacing for about an hour before she went into hard labor.  This was her first delivery, and she was in hard labor for almost a half hour before delivering the first kid.  Her babies were quite large (almost four pounds each), and she needed a little assistance with the first kid,  but she delivered the second kid twenty minutes later completely on her own.  She is a "natural" Mom and cleaned up her kids and started nursing them immediately.  For a first freshener, her udder is smaller than the other two does, but capacious and well attached.  Mom and kids are doing great!
